In the early evening of March 10, 1933 a Terrible Earthquake rocked Long Beach and surrounding areas. Scores of people were killed and thousands left homeless. Panic gripped the city as rumors of a big Tidal Wave spread.        

The great Quake left Long Beach a devastated city with half of its homes   & all of its schools heavily damaged  A generation of students went to school in tents as the City gradually rebuilt its schools and buildings
